As you can see in
Alberto Ruiz's blog, Apoc has become open source, and now lives under the freedesktop umbrella. Kudos to all the people involved in an other great "this is amazing! let's make it free" episode.
Apoc makes life much easier in large desktop deployments, providing a centralized storage of application and desktop configurations with LDAP. Large deployments are crucial in the free software world evolution.
In the Ubuntu world (and yes, Apoc works in Ubuntu) there is a great example, Edubuntu! Edubuntu could benefit from Apoc's ease of large deployment and help reach their goal. Which we all want to see happen.
Apoc needs some reciprocity from the Ubuntu Community though, a MOTU to package it, some adapter developers, and a lot of people to test it and help make it even better.
