new app name contest

If you were to create a free/open source dj app how would you call it?

In the near future I'm going to start a personal python-gstreamer project consisting in a sound file player resembling a dj mixer. A basic application to handle music files, with two inputs, pitch bending, mixing, and pre-listening in a second sound output. But I don't know how to name it, so I'm calling for help.

Give me names! The one I like best will be the final name of the project.

As a reference, my vj app is named freemix.

The voting of the final name will be done by the Ubuntu Studio team.

Thanks! Great names coming in.

Can you guys explain Dexs? I'm liking a few, but keep them coming.

Do you guys want the name voted or just chosen by me?

De: Mean-Machine Fecha: 2008-01-26 16:34

I suppose Dexs would come from Turntable aka Deck

Tonality

De: Tripmonkey_uk Fecha: 2008-01-26 16:39

Yep.. Dexs is just a different way of spelling decks.
I quite like Brutal Ten from Cooper as well, although most people might not get it. Sounds cool though ;)

- Blendsic (Blending music)
- Juisic
- Musice (those ones using Juice and Music words)

I think that the name should be chosen by you. It's the name of your project! ^^

Limix - Linux + Mix
Libmix - Libre + Mix
SpinTrix - Spin + Tricks
+Mikse - Mix pronounced as in Sake
Miks - Simplification of the above
+Smoothwave
+Fusion or Fuzion
iMix :)
Bliix - Blend + Mix (with 2 "i"s)
Joix - Joy + Mix
+Joiz - Sounds like choice
Freeding
Freeux or Feeux - Like in fuse
Coolix
+Floo or Fluu - as in flow
Toon - like tune
Tix - join linux, mix; like Tux
Rush
Flux
2mix
Toomix
Dreemix - Dream + Mix
+Whirl
+Skim (as in To throw so as to bounce or slide: skimming stones on the pond)
Glaide - (as in glide)
+Sway (my favorite)
+Weave
+Toowine (as in twine)
+Spineen

My favorites have a plus sign before them.

Even though I suggested several choices ending in X, it has become such an annoying cliché that I do not recommended it.

It must something small and unique to avoid violating trademarks. And ending in X will related it to Unix, Linux, and Mix. But this is unnecessary. The word you choose can be anything and even not related with Muisc; mixing; Free; open...

Just for your info. GStreamer just just got new pitch-shift plugin and a bpm-detect in gst-plugins-bad! I would really like to see a dj-mixer based on gstreamer. Go go go :)
