Whoa, why does VLC 2 perform so poorly, especially compared to VLC 1? Which codec(s) were tested here? |

The problem with vlc2 is related to audio: go to settings>advanced>audio>SRC sampler> and choose another type of sample rate converter...I chose Zero Order Hold...you'll see a huge cpu usage decrease |

Can you do that again with a bit of rolling average? |

However, VLC is the only one in the sample that has a half decent GUI, and that's saying something given how poor it is. So really, all bets are off. |

@Scott M. GStreamer is a platform library not a playback app so your point is mute. |

@Anónimo: Changing the resampler chopped off the tops a little but overal CPU usage is far above old vlc. I also tried enabling VDPAU (through VAAPI), which was even slower (but cpu usage didn't change much in busy vs calm scenes). |
